AmCham Labor Relations Committee Meeting

Following the approval of the working draft of the labor code of Georgia at a government session on Friday, March 1, AmCham called a Labor Committee meeting to provide the committee members an update overview of the final draft and discuss some of the very important amendments that were suggested by AmCham and were not taken into consideration by the ministry of justice.

At the meeting tabor committee members agreed on next steps to ensure continued lobbying efforts.

AmCham has been working extremely hard for the last couple of months on lobbying the interests of its members on amendment to the Labor Code. Lasha Gogiberidze, Chair of the Committee along with other AmCham representatives have had many meetings with the Ministry of Justice as well as the Ministry of Economy. AmCham was also in contact with Parliamentary leaders. Moreover, AmCham joined forces with all other large business associations to give a unified stance on issues of concern to their combined members.

To date, AmCham put forward dozens of suggestions to the working draft amendments. Some of the points were quite important and others were more technical in nature. Many issues that were put forth were accepted or partially accepted; some were not taken into consideration.
