Michael Cowgill has been nominated to Chair the Supervisory Board of the Anaklia Development Consortium

The American Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Michael Cowgill on being nominated to Chair the Supervisory Board of the Anaklia Development Consortium. Mr Cowgill is taking on this role as a private citizen, and while Anakilia is a member of AmCham, AmCham is not formally affilitated with the project. AmCham is a major supporter of any initiative which enhances the economic infrastructure of the country. Given Georgia's important position on the historic Silk Road, its free trade agreements with Europe and China and other regional players, and its role as a regional hub, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure is particularly important. AmCham therefore looks forward to seeing developments in Georgia's new and existing ports in the near future, and we trust that transparency, proper oversight and free market competition will be vital to acheiving the best results in this area.
